WinSTon V0.5x3 - Windows Atari ST Emulation
-------------------------------------------

This is a modified version of the V0.5 WinSTon, mainly targeted at the
audience using WinSTon to run the free educational version of the RTOS-
UH operating system.

Support to access PCI-cards from within an emulated application was
added in the form of an additional GemDOS-Call. See the file
WinstonPCI.pdf in the directory WinSTon-RTOS\demo for information
about usage.

A small feature has been added for faster hard drive access under
Windows XP. Now, the GemDOS emulation does not call FlushFileBuffers()
after each read and write access as it did in previous versions. This
increases disc performance dramatically. However, with buffer flushing
turned off it is not possible to edit a file under windows while WinSTon
is halted. Therefore, two checkboxes have been added under the harddisc
configuration dialog panel to alter the flushing behaviour.

WinSTon V0.5 - Windows Atari ST Emulation
-----------------------------------------

Welcome to WinSTon, an Atari ST emulator for your PC. This 'readme' will
quickly explain the basics of WinSTon; for more information simply bring
up the Help file included.

To run WinSTon you will a 166Mhz or greater PC with Windows 9x or
NT/2000 and DirectX. A joystick is recommended but not required as
cursor key emulation can be used.

It is recommended that first time users of WinSTon read the Quick Guide
in the Help file to enable them to run disc images quickly.

When WinSTon is first run, it will boot to the familiar green desktop.
The emulator uses two basic keys - F11 and F12. F12 toggles between
Windows and ST mouse mode. While in Windows mouse mode any mouse
movement moves the Windows cursor around the screen. By pressing F12
this re-directs the mouse to the emulator screen, moving the ST mouse
around. F11 will toggle between the Window and full-screen display mode.

There are a number of options to configure the speed, display mode, disc
directories, hard-drives and other features which are all covered in the
Help file.

To run games and applications you will need to obtain a disc image. This
is a single file copy of an ST floppy disc - WinSTon cannot read discs
directly from the PC floppy drive. Links to internet sites on how to
obtain or create your own disc images are availble in the Help file. To
run the disc image simply click on the left most floppy disc icon (Drive
A) in the WinSTon tool bar. Select the disc image from the file selector
and the emulator will automatically reboot!

This is the very last update to this emulator. Ever.
